In Villers-Cotterêts, just an hour from Paris, Fanny Petit envisioned much more than a country house. With Maison Nino, the artistic director created a sensitive and inspiring living space, where design naturally integrates into everyday life.

Conceived as a warm and joyful contemporary interlude, this house reveals a world where colours define the spaces, objects tell stories, and each room seems to have found its perfect place. Here, travel souvenirs mingle with designer creations, vintage finds converse with more contemporary lines, and together they create a vibrant, ever-evolving decor.

Through Maison Nino, Fanny explores her vision of the art of living: a sincere aesthetic that is never set in stone, where beauty accompanies everyday moments and encourages sharing.

Is there an object or room in your home to which you are particularly attached, and which carries a unique story?

The Kashima armchair is a very important piece in our home. I love objects around which life naturally revolves and which, over time, become witnesses to everyday life. We read in it, we relax in it, the children play in it, the light changes throughout the day. For me, it's often these pieces that tell the most stories and give a real soul to a home.

What role does comfort play today in how you design and live in your spaces?

Comfort is essential to me. I love homes where you want to spend a lot of time, to read, to entertain, or simply to watch the children play. An interior should be beautiful, of course, but above all, it should be vibrant and welcoming.

When you choose a piece of furniture or an object, do you let yourself be guided by intuition or by a more structured reflection?

I work mostly on instinct. I compose an interior a bit like an image or a set design, with materials, colours, light, or a feeling. I like it when things seem natural and never too static.

Wie bringen Sie neue Anschaffungen mit den bereits vorhandenen Stücken in Ihrem Interieur in Einklang?

I like to take the time to let spaces evolve. I often move objects, lamps, or armchairs around until I find a balance that seems obvious. A new piece should find its place naturally within the existing atmosphere.

In a space, are you more sensitive to iconic elements that set the tone or to details that reveal its personality?

I like the balance between the two. Strong pieces give an identity to a space, but it is often the quieter details that create a particular emotion or atmosphere.

What personalities, designers or aesthetic references influence your perspective on decoration and interior design?

I'm very drawn to certain approaches to architecture and interior design from overseas, particularly in Mexico and Brazil. I love this very free way of working with light, natural materials, colours, and volumes, resulting in something so vibrant and welcoming.

I'm also inspired by places with real character: holiday homes, hotels that feel a bit timeless, or spaces where design blends seamlessly into everyday life.

When you look ahead to the next few years, how do you imagine your house and its layout evolving?

I imagine it evolving very freely, through found objects, travels, and family life. I like houses that change gently over time and become increasingly personal.
