Sébastien Cordoléani

Sébastien Cordoleani is an industrial and artisanal designer whose practice explores the dialogue between material, use and manufacturing processes. Graduated in 2004 from ENSCI–Les Ateliers, he started in prospective design and then at the studio of Andrée Putman. His work articulates experimental research on manufacturing processes and essential drawing, centered on use. He works with industrial products, furniture, and space, from foresight to realization. Since 2006, he has been developing the Matière à Penser project, a research project conducted with craftsmen and manufacturers in Europe, Japan and Mexico, where the observation of materials becomes the driving force behind drawing. This approach extends notably through Archipel Paris – Les Sacs sans couture, his workshop of artisanal design, where the optimization of the material and the precision of the gesture guide the design of the objects. His work has been distinguished by the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, the Audi Talents Awards, a residency at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto and the Grand Prix Design Parade at the Villa Noailles. He collaborates with publishers such as Gandia Blasco, Gan Rugs, Tolix, Fermob, Moustache, the Manufacture de Sèvres, Ligne Roset and Cinna.
